Function description maritime vacancy Storekeeper
To prepare waste and dangerous goods for shipping in accordance with the International Maritime Organisation’s Resolutions (IMO / SOLAS)
To initiate and implement approved improvements to the store set up
Proper storage of chemicals and/or hazardous substances
To ensure familiarisation of personnel with the job and their individual tasks.
All activities to fulfil the responsibilities
To keep the stores orderly and tidy
To issue tools, consumables, rigging and other materials including PPE from the store to the workforce in a controlled manner
To issue proper instructions to the user when necessary
To make inspection rounds around the vessel to check storage of materials
To execute work orders for maintenance, inspection and / or repair of hand tools and equipment
To keep the store administration up-to-date
To monitor and keep records of carried out maintenance, stock records and issued materials and equipment and report to the Chief Storekeeper
To prepare and check manifests and associated documents for outgoing shipping
To check received materials against the manifest, delivery note or invoice for correct number and size and inspect materials on physical condition
To ensure that the paint- and chemical stores are properly maintained and stocked
To regularly check stock of gas and oxygen and report requirements and damages to Chief Storekeeper
To check certification and condition of rigging (through colour coding) and report to the Chief Storekeeper
To maintain the Store Department Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) database
To supervise store personnel and train new personnel assigned to him.
To report substandard conditions and /or activities
To withdraw defective tools or equipment, non-certified and/or defective rigging or personal fall protection equipment (PFPE) from circulation and to instruct personnel on the correct use of tools and/or equipment.
Function demands maritime vacancy Storekeeper
MBO / MTS / intermediate technical school or equivalent
Additional training in warehouse management and logistics
IMO International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG) training
Good knowledge of MS Office applications
Fluent in English language verbally and in writing
Safety harness inspection course
Rigging & lifting course.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in working independent
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in offshore logistics and warehousing
