Function description maritime vacancy Safety Officer
To assist the Chief Mate in verification of Safety and Life Saving Equipment maintenance;
All activities required to fulfil the responsibilities;
To monitor and coach all personnel on board the vessel on their SHE performance in relation to the companies policy;
To render assistance to the HSE Officer in all SHE and emergency matters;
To provide guidance in the use of Permits to Work System;
To conduct Safety observation rounds and provide personnel with advice where required;
To maintain the SHE databases as required (e.g. JSA’s, incident reporting);
To verify that all safety precautions, as per Control of Work documentation (e.g. PTW and JSA), are taken and sound working practices are adhered to during the activities;
To assist with incident investigation and reporting;
To provide professional SHE advice on maintenance of Safety and Life Saving Equipment;
To perform Helicopter Landing Officer duties when required;
To conduct SHE coaching sessions;
To ensure that relevant SHE matters are implemented;
To keep a SHE logbook;
To advise in the update of the ERT (Emergency Response Team) personnel allocations.
Function demands maritime vacancy Safety Officer
Additional training in accordance with the training matrix;
Good reporting skills;
Good knowledge of MS Office applications;
Fluent in English language verbally and in writing.
A minimum of three years offshore SHE experience or experience as a Safety Practitioner onshore.
