Function description maritime vacancy Process Engineer

As Process Engineer you will receive information on current and new projects from the maintenance- and integrity manager.

Main Duties

  • Receiving information on current and new projects from the maintenance and integrity manager
  • Evaluating the feasibility of the process designs; agreeing designs with other departments involved
  • Establishing possible solutions (concept designs)
  • Selecting and specifying process equipment and installations
  • Developing and elaborating ideas regarding the approach to be taken; advising the supervisor on whether to carry out engineering tasks (or have them carried out) in-house or to partly or fully outsource them
  • Drawing up and explaining the technical specifications for suppliers or potential suppliers
  • Evaluating tender bids for the purchasing of installations/equipment
  • Ensuring that process design documents are written (basis of design, PFD, P&IDs, datasheets, etc.)
  • Making calculations for process design (e.g. equipment, pipelines); specifying the requirements
  • Preparing the project execution plan and the budget
  • Studying third parties’ technical specifications, testing them for safety and conformity to process design
  • Evaluating plant changes for their process-technical feasibility and testing them for conformity to the proposed process design, process requirements and safety needs
  • Providing guidance to the outsourced engineering tasks, checking the drawings and specifications delivered
  • Flagging up any discrepancies/anomalies; finding a solution
  • Receiving technical queries/problem reports on processes
  • Analysing the queries/problem reports of the circumstances and situation; determining the cause of anomalies
  • Selecting additional techniques and analytical methods together with laboratories
  • Evaluating modifications to installations and giving notice of such; ensuring a structural solution
  • Evaluating the result of adaptations carried out, to ensure that they meet the aims set
  • Consulting the optimisation and reservoir engineers to ensure the optimum use of new and existing installations, compression and additional techniques; giving advice
  • Giving advice to internal departments regarding use of processes
  • Checking and evaluating changes to process design drawings
  • Flagging up any discrepancies/shortcomings and notifying the supervisor of them
  • Registering/documenting the process design documents
  • Collecting the data needed for processes
  • Helping write prescriptions, instructions and documentation on process management for the operating and maintenance manuals; effecting changes
  • Instructing the production department on the servicing of process installations
  • Analysing the process-technical prerequisites of new projects
  • Evaluating conceptual designs for feasibility, maintainability and operation
  • Helping plan systems and methods relating to environmental reports, together with the environment coordinator
  • Giving input regarding technical possibilities where required for new or amended environmental requirements

Function demands maritime vacancy Process Engineer


  • BSc degree or higher equivalent in Chemical and/or Process Engineering
  • Significant experience of working on development and producing assets in an operated environment in the Southern North Sea.
  • Offshore travels must be expected
  • Good knowledge of the Dutch and English language, both written and verbal skills
  • Living in the Province of North Holland or willing to relocate
